While some guys like muzzle lock nuts, others prefer to use crush washers, peel washers, or shims to position the muzzle devices they apply.

Get new shims and try again.AAC's Shim Kit includes 6 different shims of varying thicknesses for the purpose of properly timing a flash hider or muzzle brake on a particular barrel, offering a far greater degree of precision than that of any crush or peel washer while also being faster and less labor intensive to install correctly. If the bullet will clear without a baffel strike then it was the shims. Check the mark on the suppressor and muzzle brake and see if they still line up. Now put the suppressor on and check again. Notice where the line/mark is that you made. The muzzle break will NOT be timed with you barrel. The only concern with that protrusion is when pulling the rifle out of a padded case, it may hang up on the padding. Check out the X-Terminator muzzle brake in action!! There's a second issue and that is protrusion.
X-Terminator Muzzle Brakes should be properly timed with a crush-washer, peel-washer or muzzle device shim kit (not-included) so the "X-Terminator" logo is centered at the bottom (6 o'clock) and the opposing 4 gas ports are centered at the top (12 o'clock). Therefore, went with the 1/8" deep 3/4-24 jam nut.Unscrew the muzzle brake Add a shim and retighten on the muzzle brake Continue shim process until you have reached desired timing Finish tightening your muzzle brake fully using a torque wrench or a vise *If you don't have a torque wrench, we'd suggest getting one, but the less scientific way of doing this would be to eyeball and hand tighten.JMac Customs 4C 14-1LH 4-Port Muzzle Brake with KeyMount and Facemount Shims (1) $144.90 (Save 10%) $130.41 8 models Precision Armament Hypertap Muzzle Brakes. The KAC one is designed to be on the inside of the brake and with the brake I bought, I can't see how it would work. You should have it end up at 10 o'clock or so with finger tight.Given that my barrel has a 3/4" thread, most standard 308 shim kits dont work. Installing muzzle devices is 30% science and 70% "feeling" and past experience. For getting it to 12:00, you've got that range. Ensure that it seats directly against the shoulder of the barrel, using only the included shims for adjusting rotational timing (not the Belleville washer that likely came with your rifle).Keep in mind this isn't a for-sure rule, as the amount of shims you use is going to change what finger-tight position it's at. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. The idea runs like this: install the ASR muzzle device (muzzle brake or flash hider) to the barrel with the aforementioned high-temperature threadlocker. This item is NOT COMPATIBLE with the Model 82A1. This M107A1 muzzle brake can be used with the Model 99 and Model 95 to make it QDL Suppressor capable. If you are so inclined purchase a 5/8 X 24 TP!. Your issue here with the thread not being cut deep enough on the inside of that brand of muzzle break. Muzzle brakes can be a literal bugger to install correctly. This will allow some play in the muzzle but it is secure. If so the muzzle brake is supposed to be locked by the lug rather than by being tightened down. Technically it doesn't need anything just being a flash hider, doesn't need to stay timed. It already is being held in place with the detent in the gas block.
